As we observe Trans Awareness Week, I want to acknowledge the deep fears, uncertainties, and vulnerabilities that many in the trans community are experiencing in light of the recent election results. With Donald Trump’s return to political prominence, I’ve heard from countless individuals in my practice and beyond who feel scared, threatened, or unsure of their future in the United States. For some, these emotions are fueling thoughts of leaving the country. For others, they are turning inward to find safety and community amidst a landscape that feels increasingly hostile.
To my trans and queer siblings: I see you. I hear you. And I stand with you.
In my work as a somatic sexologist, sex and relationship coach, and brainspotting practitioner, I’ve dedicated my practice to being an inclusive and affirming space for all, particularly for those in the queer and trans communities. Now more than ever, I am committed to offering support in ways that directly address the challenges you are facing.
Creating Safety and Connection in Uncertain Times
Somatic trauma work is uniquely powerful for times like these. When the world feels unsafe, our nervous systems often respond by going into fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. This can manifest as hypervigilance, dissociation, numbness, or emotional overwhelm. While these responses are valid and adaptive, they can leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or powerless.
Through somatic practices, we can create space for your body to process these responses, allowing your nervous system to find a greater sense of safety, connection, and ease. Whether you’re navigating fear about the future, grief over recent events, or the everyday challenges of being trans or queer in a world that often misunderstands or marginalizes you, this work can help.
Sliding-Scale Support for the Trans and Queer Community
In light of the recent election and the heightened need for accessible resources, I am offering sliding-scale trauma resolution sessions for trans and queer individuals. If financial barriers have made it difficult for you to access care, please know that I am committed to working with you to find a pathway to support that fits your needs.
Building Resilience Through Community and Care
Now is a time to lean into community, to find and nurture the connections that remind us of our inherent worth and strength. If you feel isolated, I encourage you to seek out spaces where your identity is affirmed and celebrated. Whether it’s through activism, support groups, creative expression, or therapeutic work, there are ways to reclaim your power and resilience, even in challenging times.
You don’t have to do this alone. My practice is here as a resource and a refuge—a space to be held, supported, and seen.
To the trans and queer community: You are brave, you are brilliant, and you are not alone. I stand beside you in solidarity, offering my care, my practice, and my heart. Let’s navigate this moment together.
With love and unwavering support,
